About Scotziamodz
Scotziamodz was started in 2005 by Shaun Harrison, it started of as a free site with a free forum and carried the name www.scotziamodz.tk, meaning it was plagued with pop-ups and advertisements. From the day it was launched it seemed to immediately attract like minded people to the site, with Scotziamodz arranging convoys to various events in Scotland. The site grew more popular as the days past, with members from all over the United Kingdom and Europe signing up to the forum.
Scotziamodz first event was in 2006, when a roadtrip to Cruise Blackpool`s summer event was organised, this day was a total success with over 250 cars being in attendance at the event.
The site had been running under its own steam for a year, members had come and gone, but the site was growing in strength and popularity, so it was time for another revamp. Shaun decided that after Cruise 2 Blackpool, it was time the site went dot com, and we own both scotziamodz.com and co.uk, this brought a basic look site via a template and kept us on our free forum as hosted by forumwise.
In 2007, Shaun decided it was time to get the site properly established and known about the "Cruise Scene" throughout the United Kingdom and in January he entered the site for a stand for the F&M show in July. Which was also a success, with 5 of our members attending.
After F&M, Shaun wanted more, and drafted in a webdesigner, David (wee_d) to build a whole new site, which would bring a fresh look to Scotziamodz and the beginning to what most people recognise as Scotziamodz today. During this time Scotziamodz was still displaying some of the best cars available at shows, and Sunday nights in Hamilton getting bigger and better, and covering all there was to do with cruising around Scotland.
So the gamble appeared to have worked, Scotziamodz was transfered over smoothly, the members rejoined and we were back on track.......until a server crash caused us to lose all our members again, right before which looked to be one of our biggest convoys yet. We were back to square one.
However, David, pulled the site back within 24 hours and we were back in business. The members rejoined and we enjoyed our biggest convoy yet, over 30 cars, see events section for full report.
So the site was back and back with avengence with our members posting over 4000 posts in a week.
BUT THEN DISASTER STRUCK
Early one morning, Shaun recieved a phone call. "The forums been emptyed". Yes it was true, Scotziamodz had been hacked. Was this the end? It certainly looked that way. It was a major blow, and Shaun was ready to pack up shop, everything had been hacked through his account and he really was ready to throw in the towel. Infact he did, he sent a text message to all members of the Admin team and the members whom he knew..................
However, whilst on another cruise site, that one of his friends owns, a few questions were asked. Then Shaun was indated with texts and emails for the site to return. This friend on the other site seemed to have talked some sense into him and the site returned that night.
With Shaun and his great admin team on the case, the site has bounced back and will be around for many years to come
